Its syrup is a natural sugar, which is composed of over 50\u00a0beneficial compounds, namely one named \u201c<em>quebecol<\/em>\u201d in honour of its biggest global producer, Quebec.<\/p>\n<p>Maple syrup is obviously an integral part of our culture and our recipes since it\u2019s a product that is readily accessible to all those who live in the province. It is more than likely to find the famous red and blue can in each Quebec household\u2019s cupboard but that isn\u2019t the case in the rest of the world. Interest fact \u2014 we pay $0.01 per millilitre of maple syrup here, whereas that price drastically increases as soon as you change continents. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.agr.gc.ca\/eng\/industry-markets-and-trade\/statistics-and-market-information\/agriculture-and-food-market-information-by-region\/europe\/market-intelligence\/maple-products-european-market-analysis\/?id=1424352808569\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Agriculture and Agri-food Canada<\/a>\u2019s website reveals that Norwegians pay $0.09 per millilitre and that price can go up to $0.13 in France!<\/p>\n<p>Since sugaring-off season will soon kick off in most sugar shacks all across Quebec, we wish to introduce you to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.erablierest-valentin.com\/index2.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00c9rabli\u00e8re Saint-Valentin<\/a>, located in Saint-Valentin. And what\u2019s their speciality in all this? \u201cMany people come for our maple laden <em>grands-p\u00e8res<\/em> but I think it\u2019s for our bacon!\u201d says Karen Potvin, the owner\u2019s daughter. \u201cSugar shacks that still have that item on their menu are rare so some people call just to ask if we serve them!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Also, all their products are local, which is a sign of quality. For example, part of their vegetables come from the Garceau farm, in Lacolle, and some of their meat is from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Boucherie-Viau-190790934294665\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Boucherie Viau<\/a>, in Hemmingford.
